Volunteer

There would be no BVO without our volunteers. They are the life force of BVO! We have over 350 volunteers who give their time to serve on our Board of Directors and Committees, to sort clothing and organize the Treasure Shop, to help children in our Preschool, to organize fresh produce for Fresh Food Basket, to provide resources and support to seniors and their caregivers, AND to cook and serve breakfast to students at Beaver Valley Community School. Special events are successful because our volunteers offer their time at Christmas time when we are getting the hampers ready with gifts and food.

On behalf of our volunteer Board of Directors and our Staff, we wish to thank all existing and new volunteers for your interest in and dedication to our organization and in our community. We are pleased to have you on our “team”. By accepting BVO’s standard requirements for volunteers, you have demonstrated your willingness to become part of the Beaver Valley Outreach family. We are proud of our reputation of “making good things happen in our community.” At BVO we make every effort to create an atmosphere of caring and concern for all members of our community.

We believe that the success and growth of our organization is largely dependent upon the wisdom, talents, skills, dedication and direction provided by our volunteers. You are a vital member of our team and a Very Important Person!

“Volunteers are the Roots of Strong Communities” was the theme for Volunteer Appreciation Week this year. We trust that you receive a sense of real accomplishment and well-being by making an appreciated and valuable contribution to BVO and the community at large.

Thank you for your willingness to partner with us, because together we can really make a difference.  If you would like more information about our Volunteer Information and Registration process, please click on the How Can I Volunteer tab.  You will find links to Volunteer Information and Registration Forms in this area.3

Volunteer Roles

BVO wants to make your volunteer experience enjoyable and satisfying. Volunteers assist in both the operations of BVO and the execution of its programs and services. Without the contribution of our volunteers, we couldn’t support our community.

Here are some of the things our volunteers do:

  • Participate on the Board of Directors
  • Manage the finances of BVO
  • Run the Treasure Shop
  • Organize and manage events
  • Fundraise
  • Help with community youth initiatives/assist with Preschool and Kids Club/prepare and serve breakfast to children at Beaver Valley Community School

Why Donate

Local families are able to access our emergency food cubby, clothing & household items, and fresh fruit and vegetables throughout the year. A parent receives recreational funding to help enroll their child in organized hockey/dance or other activities of their choice. Children of local families receive quality childcare right in their own community. Seniors and caregivers benefit from important information and resources available to maximize their quality of life.

For over 35 years, BVO and its many volunteers have been working hard to enhance the lives of people in The Blue Mountains, from infants to seniors, with quality programs and services. While proceeds from our Treasure Shop sales and government funding go a long way to fund BVO’s good work, financial support from the community is always needed. People give for different reasons and in different ways: to support a cause that is important to them and make an impact in their community; to ensure that their memory lives on in a meaningful way; to help reduce taxes while supporting charitable causes that align with their values. Some hold 3rd party fundraisers, where they participate in an engaging event while having fun and raising money that will help locals in our community when times are tough.

There are many ways in which you can support BVO, both now and in the future. Please consider giving to BVO to help us continue “making good things happen in our community”.
